Computer Courses:

At present we offer the following courses:

  • Introduction to Programming using Logo
  • Introduction to Advanced Programming using Logo
  • Introduction to Programming and Animation using ALICE

Coming up soon:

  • Introduction to Programming using Scratch

Computer Facility:

Computers: (1 per student)

  • Operating System: Windows for ALICE, Windows or Linux for Logo
  • Hardware: P3 or above, 256MB RAM (512MB for ALICE) minimum, 1 GB free disk space, and a good graphics color monitor (15 inch). We do not need Internet access.

Removable Storage: Each computer must have a facility to attach "removable storage", i.e. one of the following:

  • a floppy drive
  • an unused and easily accessible USB port for pen drive, or
  • Read-write CD drive

Every student must have a formatted (blank) removable storage device (compatible with the computer) during the entire duration of the course.

Other:

  • An LCD Projector or a large-screen (22" or more) video monitor
  • Battery/inverter backup in case of power outage.

Course Logistics:

Student Batch:

For effective course delivery, the batch size should not exceed 20 and should not be less than 10.

Course Length and Frequency:

Each of our courses requires about 22 hours of total classroom time. Each classroom session should be of 90 minutes minimum (2 hours max), and there should be at least one session every week (two per week is better).

Medium of Instruction:

English or Marathi

School grade: Our courses are primarily designed for middle-school children (6th to 10th). Every course may have specific grade requirements.

English skills: English fluency is not required, but students must be able to understand simple spoken English, and know how to read-write English since all computer commands are in English.

General abilities: At a minimum, students should be curious about new things, have interest in computers and in solving simple puzzles, and possess average logical ability.
